"Who Am I? Discover your inner world" (published 2004)

She is a long-time meditator, known throughout the world
for her guided meditation CDs.

Personal Qualities

Carmen is perfectly suited to the role of celebrant with her gentle, compassionate manner, her ability to listen deeply and empathise with bereaved families, her sensitivity, depth and warm caring.  At the heart of all her work is a belief in the beauty and value of every person, no matter what.

Soothing Voice

Carmen is a long-time meditator and has for many years guided people into peace of mind with her meditation commentaries.  People are genuinely soothed by her beautiful, calming voice and heartfelt words.

Creative Communicator

Her background is in communication.  She trained as an actress at NIDA and knows how to deliver poetry and prose with meaning and artistry.  She is also a best-selling author of two inspirational books and brings her writing skills to the task of portraying each life with respect, dignity and significance, creating a fitting tribute to your loved-one.  She has an ability to choose the right words to serve the needs of those present, both as a writer and as a public speaker.

Personal

She is a great believer in ceremony as a powerful way to cope with challenging transitions and strong emotions.  She works with families to create a service that reflects their values and beliefs.  She encourages individuality in the design of every funeral service so that it holds personal meaning for the family.

Involvement

She understands the importance of participation in the service rather than letting the professionals do everything, and through consultation with you, seeks ways to include your family's involvement on the day.

Uplifting

While a funeral is a time of deep sadness, it can also be a time of great upliftment.  Carmen's spiritual integrity creates a safe environment where emotions can be expressed and released.  After release, the human heart returns to peace.

Commitment

Carmen is committed to providing the highest quality service in your time of need.

Different Styles of Funerals

Carmen offers two types of funeral ceremonies: CIVIL and SPIRITUAL

Civil Funerals

Civil funerals are life-centred funerals, focussed around a well-prepared and beautifully presented eulogy.

Carmen spends time interviewing your family in order to write a caring and heartfelt life-story of your loved one, telling the essence of their history, achievements and contributions, their relationships and their character and special qualities.

Together we will select appropriate music, poetry, readings and symbols that have personal significance for you and your family.  We will honour the life of the departed, and say a beautiful farewell in a way that is meaningful for you.

Carmen encourages the use of live musicians before and during the ceremony, as this greatly enhances the atmosphere.  Carmen has a beautiful network of professional and sensitive musicians to draw upon, including harps, flutes, vocals and keyboards.

You may wish to include a slide show as part of your ceremony.

Spiritual Funerals

Carmen offers these ceremonies for those who wish to include a spiritual element (different to a religious service).  Along with the eulogy as the centre-piece of the funeral, we can add special moments such as:

guided meditations
letting-go ritual
focus on forgiveness
acknowledging emotions
closing unfinished business
blessing the soul's continuing journey
some specially devised ritual or moment that we create together

You may wish to consider a Circle Ceremony where seating is arranged in a circle around the coffin and everyone is invited to speak.  (There are venue and time considerations, as this is a longer service).

Since 1984 Carmen has helped many individuals and groups of people experience sacred moments through her words, her guided meditation commentaries, her deeply soothing voice and manner, and her commitment to bringing out the beauty and dignity of every individual.

Fee for Services

Fees upon inquiry.

Fees for live musicians are additional to Carmen's fee.

Carmen will work with the Funeral Director of your choice or recommend appropriate Funeral Directors.
